Binge Eating or Binge Eating DisorderWhen we talk about Eating Disorders, we generally think of Anorexia and Bulimia, however, there are other disorders that involve disorderly eating, and that, like the two previously mentioned, use food as a method of coping with the inability to process and express emotions, such is the case of Binge Eating Disorder.
What is Meaning of Binge Eating Disorder? The over eaters to anxiety and imbalance emotional ingest, without being able to check on it, a lot of food in a short time, and unlike Anorexia and Bulimia, do not use any method of purging, which occasionally them it can cause overweight and even obesity. Binge eating are associated with consuming food much faster than would be considered in normal time; eat until you feel dissatisfied with the amount ingested; the amount of food is not related to the feeling of physical hunger and a feeling of discomfort and depression after the binge. Although Binge Eating Disorder is largely associated with obesity, we cannot determine that every obese person has this disorder. Binge Eating Disorder has been linked to Bulimia. In the latter we can find bingeing episodes, however, the key difference is that in Bulimia compensatory behaviors are used to eliminate food and control weight, for example, inducing vomiting, using diuretics and laxatives, doing more physical activity, etc. What are the symptoms? In many cultures, food plays an important role in celebrations, generally when there are gatherings with friends or family, or when weddings or birthdays are celebrated; it is common for large amounts of food to be ingested at these events. The difference is that when there is a compulsive eating, there is a recurring pattern of binge-eating episodes in which there is an evident loss of control and significant discomfort in different areas of the person.
